The atmosphere at Camberley was electric, with players and spectators alike buzzing with excitement for the return of this long-awaited competition. The camaraderie displayed on the pitch not only showcased the skills of the athletes but also highlighted the spirit of unity that rugby fosters.
Camberley were part of the Barbarians team captained by our very own Georgina, the team was made up of players from 7 different clubs, on the pitch it looked like they'd always played together. Each player brought their unique strengths to the game, making it a true celebration of women's rugby. Congratulations to Old Reigatian for winning the shield.
As the day progressed, the sense of community grew stronger. Families and friends gathered to support their players, sharing in the triumphs and challenges of the matches. The BBQ team worked tirelessly, providing delicious food and refreshments that added to the festive atmosphere, ensuring that everyone felt welcomed.
Looking ahead, the anticipation for the next competition in December/January is already building. Teams are eager to regroup, refine their skills, and come back stronger. With the positive feedback from this event, it is clear that the U23’s women's competition will continue to grow, bringing together more clubs and players in the future.
