A couple of Sundays ago, our growing U12 boys squad assembled in our clubhouse to look back at last season and look forward to their first season in youth rugby.
Looking smart in their white shirts and dark trousers, the boys and their parents/supporters were welcome by our club Director of Rugby, Michael Clarke, along with senior men’s 1st XV captain Chris Bird and club captain Ben Lovell-Smith.
Chris and Ben reflected on their own rugby careers through the age groups here at Camberley before giving the boys a guided tour of our clubhouse. Highlights included looking at the shields of all the other clubs who’ve played Camberley, the international shirts donated by former players and the club gym! Massive thanks to Chris and Ben for investing their time with these young men.
Reflecting on last season, each of our coaches presented an award. Most improved went to Bertie and strongest values to Bobby. Our players themselves chose Arran as their player of the season, with our parents selecting Archie Mac as theirs. All the boys picked up a medal in recognition of their efforts, which were handed out by club captain Ben.
Finally, the boys presented their own trophy won on tour which will go on display in our clubhouse. Hopefully the first silverware of many!
