This week it was the turn of the girls u12s squad to play their part in supporting Saturday rugby as Camberley Mens 1st XV took to the field against Bournemouth resulting in another win on home turf and 5 bonus points. In what was unseasonal but welcomed weather, the girls were excited to be part of a ‘big day’ and performed their ballgirl duties with pride and diligence and got to meet the players after.
This was also an opportunity for the u12s friends and family to experience the Saturday side of rugby, as Girls and youth play and train on Sundays participating in a whole weekend of club rugby was a new venture for some. It was a great day enjoyed by everyone and we think it is safe to say the Mens team have gained some new Saturday supporters.
Girls rugby is rapidly growing at camberley under the leadership of Tara Barnett with three age grades u12s, u14s and u16s.
This Sunday 6th November we are holding an open rugby taster session for all girls school year 7 to 11yrs. This InnerWarrior session is a RFU event designed for brand new players, they are always fun and you don't need any special clothing or knowledge of rugby.
