Hi, please see below from our Chair of Rugby, Jay Wilcox, and our co-Chairs, Stew Davies and Dave Scott.

I am delighted to introduce Matt Searle as the new Youth Chair of Camberley Rugby Club for our 2025-26 season.
Matt brings experience and a deep passion for youth rugby to his new role. His dedication and leadership skills make him the ideal candidate to guide our youth programme forward. Matt’s vision for nurturing young talent and his commitment to player development will undoubtedly contribute to the continued growth and success of boys’ youth rugby at our club.
Matt has a strong family connection to our club with his son playing since 2017. Quite soon after, Matt stood too close to the pitch and has undertaken both lead coach and squad manager roles since then. I know he is champing at the bit to get started in the coming weeks. He will continue is his role as lead coach for our U12s (U13s from September 2025).
His first priority will be to ensure our lead coaches and squad managers of our Youth squads (U12s, U13s, U14s and U15s) are well-prepared to deliver summer pre-season training, so that our boys hit the ground running from September 2025.
I would also like to acknowledge the great work done by his predecessor, Jason Morris, who fortunately for us will still be involved with rugby at the club.
Jay.

Matt’s new role as Youth Chair opens up opportunities to lead both our membership and communications teams, which he’s going to stand down from. We’ve put together outlines in the attached documents.
Here’s a short overview:
Membership Secretary
Purpose: to help the club prosper through sustaining and growing the membership by actively encouraging new members to join and taking responsibility for membership managers, who manage membership data and ensure payment of subscriptions.
Is this role for you?
If you are well organised, have excellent communication skills with a friendly and approachable manner, you could hold a socially rewarding post that serves to bring the community together, ultimately supporting the sustainability of the club.

Communications Lead
Purpose: to promote Camberley Rugby Club and its interests to members and the wider community, raising the club’s profile and boosting the popularity of the game locally by ensuring good news stories are communicated through the right channels, at the right time.
Is this role for you?
If you are media savvy, with strong written communication skills, efficient and meticulous attention to detail, and a team player passionate about rugby, you could hold a position where you would put your journalistic skills into practice and be the voice of the club.
Please get in touch with our Volunteering Lead, Ian Russell, ianr@camberleyrugby.co.uk to express your interest by 12 noon on Thursday 1 May 2025.
Finally, we would also like to acknowledge the great work done by Matt over the past five years with comms and three years with membership!
